Boho Chic Photoshoot

Boho wedding hair with plaits

I love the relaxed feeling of a boho wedding and now with brides and Grooms going all out Festival themed and boho inspired country themes I thought it was a perfect style to capture for the photoshoot I did with Scott Miller photography http://scottmillerphotography.co.uk/ for his creative portrait photography – http://www.boutiqueweddingfilms.uk/.

Scott has an amazing ability to capture the beauty in a person and also finds a way to help their personality shine through. His relaxed and chatty personality instantly puts you at ease and it’s why he’s able to create such fantastic images. It was an honour to work with him on this shoot.

The Shoot

FoBumblebee shoot --6r the shoot we had the lovely Harriet come in for the day too have a few styles created on her.I started with a super sleek look to take advantage of her beautifully silky long hair, choosing a side comb kindly lent to us for the shoot by http://www.homeofheartsboutique.co.uk/. I adore these hair pieces and they arrive beautiful packaged and within a few days of payment. They are beyond sparkly so if you are a sparkly girl definitely check them out.

After that I went all out boho and took advantage of her beautiful blond hair to create some messy soft boho inspired hair looks.

I chose one with a double vintage roll at the back, and added both flowers and a delicate jewel vine (courtesy of Home of Hearts Boutique), both of which looked stunning. The vine look can be found on my instagram @bumblebee_bridal This look is very versatile and can be made both messy and more sleek depending on your personal preference and wedding style.

The third look was a runway inspired boho creation with big plaits right across the front of her head. I made it elegantly messy by pulling bits out and taking advantage of her beautiful baby hair to achieve that imperfect, soft, almost fairy-like appearance that boho brides love.

Her makeup was an airy purple and pink to bring out the green tones in her eyes.

I mostly used the Mac ‘cool palette’ to create this look but will add more detail on a separate blog post.- http://www.maccosmetics.co.uk/product/13835/28063/Products/Makeup/Eyes/Eye-Palettes-Kits/Eye-Shadow-x15-Cool-Neutral to achieve this look and the.

I was so pleased with this shoot and the incredible images Scott captured for it, I hope you like them!!

Bee-beautiful everyone

Smokey eyes and contoured makeup at Down Hall in Essex

It was all about contour and big eyes for these Yorkshire Lases back in April for Hayleys wedding at Down Hall in Essex. With a ‘go big or go home’ attitude these beauties wanted to make an impact with their wedding day makeup. The look perfectly matches their big and bubbly personalities.

Opting for big smokey eyes using my Charlotte Tilbury palletes ‘uptown girl’ and ‘Dolce vita’ depending on the girls eye colour and skin tone – learn more here – http://www.charlottetilbury.com/uk/products/makeup/eyes/eyeshadow.html. I can’t rave about these enough!!

Contour and highlight to bring out cheek bones using a mixture of cream foundations and a must have for any makeup kit the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Palette (this has a gorgeous highlighter in it). I tend to use the light to medium kit but there is a darker palette for darker skin tones too – http://www.beautybay.com/cosmetics/anastasiabeverlyhills/proseriescontourkitmediumtan/

For their foundation they opted for the staying power of the Airbase airbrush spray foundation which really does give a flawless finish that lasts all day ( you can find an airbased trained artist near you here – http://www.airbasemakeup.com/airbase-near-you/airbase-professionals). I always recommend this for my brides especially if they like a boogie as it’s extremely water resistant and i’m yet to find another foundation with such great staying power but still looks light. It’s build able though if you want a more dramatic finish like these girls did.

Stay Bee-utiful

Green with Envy over these cool shoes

Posted on September 4th, 2016

When your bride turn’s up with Wedding Shoes like this you know you are in for a fun morning!!!

Hanna’s 50’s inspired dress beautifully showed off these bad boys for all to see and she teamed them with matching coloured flowers in her hair which she spray painted and then I arranged.

Hannah isn’t one for makeup usually so we went with a very light look that she still felt herself in (but with added bright pink lipstick to match the polka dots on her shoes of course).

She married at a stunning new venue http://www.colvillehallwedding.co.uk/ near white Roding in Essex to combine the beautiful historic buildings with her modern style it was everything but a traditional wedding.

Favourite moments for me from the morning was getting to see some of the traditional Jewish customs but done in true Hannah style in a non traditional way, they were so lovely to watch. Especially the moment the family took it in turns to tell the bride and groom what they wished for their married life together. Lots of laughter and happy tears were shed.

New Camera

Posted on September 4th, 2016

I cannot tell you how chuffed I am with these pictures of the makeup I did last saturday at Mulberry house in Ongar, thanks to my new Camera. It’s so hard to capture how pretty everyone looks on a camera phone so i popped into my local camera shop and treated myself to a preloved camera and a snazzy new lens so i can now take pictures of my work.

Here is the the Gorgeous bride Ashleigh on her wedding day (thanks for letting me do a before and after) and her beautiful maids, Jess & Kylie all looking ‘Bee-utiful’

Singing and Sparkle at Down Hall Country House Hotel

In April I had the honour of being chosen to do the Wedding Hair and makeup for the lovely Hayley and her wedding party at the prestigious Down Hall Hotel near Bishop Stortford in Essex.

They were one of the funniest and warmest wedding parties i’ve ever worked with. My good friend Kelly came to help with the bridesmaids hair and i did all the makeup and Hayleys Wedding hair. We both just fell in love with these yorkshire ‘lases’. Our sides hurt from laughing when they left us to go and get ready and we felt all warm and fuzzy inside like the buzz you get from a night out with your closest girlfriends.

This warmth and love shone through the whole wedding. But not content with the sparkle from their love this bride to be decided to dazzle by having Swarovski Crystals put through her hair (a little squeal just escaped, remembering how much i LOVED this look). A little idea I stole from the Disney Cinderella film. And what girl doesn’t want to be a princess on her big day.

(Check out the blog for a post with more detail on their makeup and some pictures from the morning)

I asked Hayley to share her favourite picture and memories from her big day and I know she wont mind me sharing them with you.

Thank you girls for the amazing memories!!

Stay Bee-utiful

What Hayley Said

Hayley and Gordon

This one is a nice snap from the evening when Gordon changed into his traditional Ghanian outfit! You can see the sparkles in my hair too!

My favourite moment was actually at this point in the evening. We had a whole African section in the playlist and all of Gordon’s family got up on the dance floor and made a circle around us and were all singing, it was like having a live choir in the reception – it was just magical – everyone who came to the wedding said the same thing, you could feel the happiness and love in the room, it was a moment I’ll never forget.

I loved seeing the room for the first time too, I wanted to create a really romantic feel with the lights and candle light and I was really pleased with how it all came together. You have a vision in your mind of how you want it to look and it was amazing to see it all come to life.

There’s so many highlights but everyone just kept saying that it was just a very happy wedding – everyone was smiling all day and it was full of love – but I suppose all weddings bring that out in everyone don’t they!
